"Computer start personal log and timestamp. ..
Ok so.. new ship. Really not what I expected. Where do I start? hmmm

So I got in with about 15 minutes to spare. Met the quartermaster, and was told to meet up with the XO.
.
.
Right!
.
Since my last few talks with the XO on board the Potemkin went so well, I was expecting to get chewed on.
.
.
But I wasn't. Commander Azad was friendly, courteous and while it has nothing to do with anything lets still admit it... gorgeous! with a capital G.
So he basically just wanted to welcome me aboard, since I was going to be the new Chief of Ops.
Hah!
Chief . . of . . Ops!

I did not see that one coming. After spending the last 6 years being pushed away from every advancement opportunity. Having seen my department heads recommendations for promotion rebutted, quickly followed by my timely department transfers ... I was not expecting this.

I haven't even been an assistant to a department head.

But all is good. I've some work to do until I'm up to spec on the needs of my new job, but I'll get there.

Thankfully I have the help of Cadet Carlton Fitz, who ran the department for the past few months or so. It is a credit to starfleet's training regimen that a cadet could pick up such a loaded job and manage to keep a department running so well. I need to make an official note of that, and suggest to the commander he do the same. Such dedication and perseverance should be rewarded.

.
.
.

So we did an overview of the operational details of the department ... Fitz and I.
I'm thankful I majored in systems engineering, and that I've kept up with starfleet specs despite many career changes. I just wish I had some managerial experience. Nothing like learning on the job!
.

I guess that's it for tonight. Good day! Really good day.
.
Computer end log."
